First day of Zul-Hijja 1424 AH

In metro Richmond area, moon was sighted at about 6:46 PM on the evening of Thursday January 22, 2004. Official announcement from Saudi Arabia was confirmed on the evening of Saturday January 24, 2004. Thus in North America, Thul Hijja started from Friday January 23, 2004.

Eid prayer will be at Arthur Ashe Center on Sunday February 1, 2004 at 8:30 AM. More Info at Eid in Richmond

According to ICNA

"Alhamdulillah, the moon for Dhul Hijjah has been sighted. Insha Allah, Eid ul Adha will be celebrated on Feb. 1, 2004. May Allah (SWT) accept all our good deeds and forgive our sins. Ameen"

According to ISNA

"Eid ul Adha confirmed to be on February 1, 2004
The hajj authority of Mecca decided to have wuquf (standing) at Arafat for the pilgrims on January 31st; therefore the Eid Al-Adha will be on Sunday February 1st, for pilgrims as well as for Muslims in North America. This is in accordance with the earlier decision of the Fiqh Council adopted by the National Shura Council to celebrate Eid in solidarity with pilgrims in Mecca. Eid Mubarak"

According to Moonsighting "On December 24, the new crescent moon has been seen in Malaysia, Pakistan, Kuwait, Syria, and Fort Myers (Florida) USA...", therefore Thul Qaadah in North America started on Thursday December 25, 2003.

First day of Ramadan 1424 AH in some countries

According to Moonsighting "The crescent moon for Ramadan was seen in Florida on October 26, Sunday, by an Imam of a Masjid...The Islamic Shura Council of North America and Fiqh Council of North America, of which ISNA is a member, agreed that there were no confirmed moon-sighting reports on the evening of Saturday, October 25, 2003, the 29th of Sha'ban. We will complete 30 days of Sha'ban. Therefore, Monday, October 27 will be the first day of Ramadan in North America.".

According to ICNA "According to Islamic Shura Council decision, First of Ramadan will be on Monday, October 27.".

According to Moonsighting "Muharram Moon has NOT been seen on Monday, March 3, 2003 in Kuwait, Hungary, and South Africa. There was a chance for it to be seen in South Western USA but clouds in many areas hide the moon"

Day later Moonsighting replaced the above message with "Muharram Moon was seen on Monday, March 3, 2003 in San Francisco California by many people including Imam of Islamic Center..."
